Byron Bay & 300

Tim, Rob, Nino & I came home on Monday at midnight. It was a long and funny trip home... That is all I seemed to do in Byron.... Laugh my head off at Rob and Nino's antics. Their "deh's" "it dont get n0 beytter" and "I'mm Nin-n-yo eEhH" will eternally make me laugh. Rob is probably the most goofiest guy I have met .... he takes the gold medal so far...
I didnt realise that it would take about 10 hours to drive there....I knew it would be long, but not that long.. Mate, I should of bought a one way ticket to the Philippines, it would of been quicker!

I love Byron Bay, I love sleepy little surf towns... so relaxing and so beautiful. When we initially arrived, it was like I never left the first time I went there. Everything is the same and nothing has changed.... It was still the perfect Byron Bay image I have thought and experienced...
We didnt get that much sunshine.... It rained at least 4 times a day, it was not pissy rain, it was full on boulders coming down like a ton of bricks! But it made camping at Belongil Feilds and running around the CBD very interesting!!!! The only sunshine we had was driving to and from Nimbin..... oh Nimbin, such a tree huggin hippy place....

It pissed down here and there at the East Coast Blues and Roots Festival too. but luckily we were under the performance tents.... gosh they were massive.... I would imagine the tent tumbling down on the crowd. Yes I am a bit morbid.
I was able to see musicians I had never heard of in my life and see superstar muso's like John Mayer, Joss Stone, Jack Johnson, WOLFMOTHER and The Roots . Although I have already seen the latter two, the never- the- less kicked arse..... WOLFMOTHER was my favourite.... moshpit central! they always deliver excellent concerts!!!!

Who would of thought that this is the same person!

Tim and I watched 300 again at Byron Bay cinemas.... I love that freakin movie!!!! Thankyou myspace for the free black screening the first time round! lol.... The battle scenes were beautiful, gory but beautiful. there was something poetic about it.... I love the post production effects!!! amazing!!!
And the hot six-pack bodies...g-damn! Come Halloween, I hope a get a knock on the door from some Spartans..... trick or treat. TREAT THANKS!

ABS-CBN

This was on my to do list... I always wanted to visit the studios... every since my dad informed me when i was 12y.o that you could watch a live show, i was curious.... after watching old skool shows like Tabing Ilog.... and having a mad arse 15y.o school girl crush on Patrick Garcia.... I made it a point to visit that crazy showbiz place known as ABS-CBN.... home of the famed Wowowee and overly paid Kris Aquino....

We basically went on a half day studio tour and watched Home Boy (A gay host version of Oprah)... We made friends with our lovely tour guides Renz and Nel... they were kind enough to let us stay for the whole day.... and to watch another show.... wow we felt so special... VIP baby..... Renz also ran my sister and I over to Wowowe... The guard was a bit apprehensive in letting us in, but eventually faultered.... Another guard told us to go and sit near the seats.... we could of stayed to watch the show but Tim was waiting for us in another studio..... Man it's all about connections in ABS-CBN...

We did see quite a few famous actors, actresses and TV hosts....We took a photo with Mariel... Tim's other lover from Wowowee.... he was so excited...
Also we saw Bob who my sister thought was Sam Milby....
Mara : "Saaam!!???"
Bob: "no ....BOB" (turns and walks away)

The funny thing was we kept bunping into this Bob/ Sam fellow..... he probably thought we were weirdos... more so my sister...ha ha... We took the piss out of my sister for the whole about Sam Milby..
An even funnier moment was when Tim and I actually saw Sam Milby at The Spa... only moments before my sister walked into another room for a massage.... She missed him by a second!!! Tim and I were sitting on the couches thinking.... "heyyyy...isnt that Sam???"

Annie... you would of freaked!!!!! word yo!!!!

WHY????

I cut my hair on the last day I was in the Philippines.... Thanks Sam Baysa Of Hairshaft (The Podium, 5th floor).... you did a good job mate!!
Anyhow.... people freak out when they realise it's chopped off. Take a chill pill people.... it's hair.... it will grow back eventually.... My Auntie came over today, and I have not seen her since I left for overseas.... she was gob smacked "WHY DID YOU CUT YOUR HAIR!!!" My reply is always "I was sick of long hair so i chopped it off.... plus I wanted to look like a boy"
I think there is a mentality floating around.. that having long hair is more beautiful and more feminine... I remember reading an article that males find it more attractive when girls have long hair.... and they would prefer to date long haired girls opposed to short hair girls...
pffft whatever..... I was contemplating on actually shaving my head..... a lot of people opposed it for various reasons..... maybe i will do it later in the year.... we'll see....

The Philippines: February 2007

*WARNING: This is a half arsed post... I got lazy... I will end up posting more pictures than words....enjoy anyway... i hope*

I was very concerned going on this holiday because for the first leg of the trip it was only my sister and I, and I was paranoid that shit might go down like crazy taxi drivers kidnapping us…. thank goodness nothing did. Everyone gets paranoid when girls/ women go on holidays by themselves….. safety is always an issue that comes up, among other things.

The other concern was that Tim would join us, on our last holiday together 2 years ago my sister and Tim didn’t really have good dynamics. Personality conflicts and them bitching to me about each other did my head in. And I feared that it would happen again. But to my surprise it was actually smooth sailing. I guess they got to know each others behaviours and personalities more clearly after that trip.

Meanwhile, I did actually fulfill my “to do” list for the Philippines. Normally when I set a few goals or tasks I more than likely fail to live up to them. Let’s hope that these actions resonate in uni assignments.

Well we flew with Philippine Airlines….aaaahhhh good old PAL you can always count on being on time… haha yeah right…. 9 times out of 10 you are guaranteed to have a delay. I have yet to meet someone who has never encountered a delay on their international flight. PAL shouldn’t stand for Philippine Airlines; it should be Pilipino Arriving Late.

Luckily my Auntie Ying called PAL before she left home to pick us up.

We stayed with my Aunt in Las
Piňas. She is so funny my Auntie, She is one of those ladies who would take you under her wing and treat you like her own child. She really is a kind woman. But there was a saga going on in her house. Which we all thought was quite funny. She has 3 female katulongs or helpers. We later found out that two of them were lesbians, and they were doing some funny business if you know what I mean, or as my Uncle puts it “guitar playing”. Shit hit the fan because my auntie didn’t want anything like that going on in her house. She didn’t mind if they were batting for the same team, just as long nothing sexual was happening.

The three girls are no longer there because they pulled a shifty. The two lovers left for a holiday back to their home town. And the third ran away and followed them. It was like a soap opera.

Cebu/ Bohol:

Cebu is a nice little place and I enjoyed the day tour. We got to visit quite a few historical sites. I love history, I cannot get enough of it. It was one of my favourite subjects in high school. I always forget how historicallyand culturally rich the Philippines is. I did not get to learn Philippine history in school, you sort of do that in your own time.

Anyhow, I love seeing all the artifects from the 15th, 16th & 17th century. It is truely amazing how these relics have lasted over the years, especially architectural structures. I was blown away.

Bohol was cool as ice. I wished we had an overnight stay there. Maybe next time. The tarsiers freak me out. It is weird how they are suicidal when you take them out of their natural habitat. I was able to feed one of them, but I felt so bad for them.... They are nocturnal, i wanted them to sleep and to be left alone... i hated being in the enclosure. There were so many tourists touching them (which is not alllowed) and camera flashes (which is also not allowed) going off left, right and centre. I think all that touching, camera flashes and being awake 24/ 7 has f*cked them up psychologically.

Dipolog:

My sister and I went to Dipolog again to visit my uncle. He took us to Pinahon island, which is owned by the municipality. Staying there does not cost much, you only give a donation. So if you wanted to you could give 1 peso. It normally takes 2 hours to get there, but for us it took 4. The water was very choppy and the banka was getting smashed by the waves, which was hella fun we were getting tossed up in the air..eheheh…. Come to think of it, it was actually quite dangerous… half the people on the boat couldn’t really swim and there were no life vest… It ended up being 8:oopm when we arrived at the island.... the light house was broken, so we were standed at sea for about an hour.... i was scared shitless....

I love Dipolog. It is such a beautiful place. I really recommend people to visit this beautiful coastal town. I love it how seafood is cheap….yummo!

My uncle and sister... the crazy boat ride to Pinahon Island

BEAUTIFUL!

Saturday's mission: The Holga camera

Tim and I headed to Paddington to the Just Shoot lomography shop (16 elizabeth st paddington). I suggest that everyone from Sydney head down there (especailly if your a photography nut) ... it's such a cool funky arty farty store. The heatwave didnt help the experience, but looking at the awesome photographs did do some justice.

I have bought my long awaited Holga camera.... 6x6 photos baby... although you can convert the camera to a normal 35mm.... what a clever lil' bugger..... I am in love with lomography at the moment, i love the photos the Holga creates.... each photo you take will be totally different... Holga bends the rules.......actually there are no rules JUST SHOOT!!!... ooh you bad arse!

I have always loved photography.... There is something beautiful about it, capturing images in the moment... time stands still..... a story behind the image.... *gush*

visit www.lomography.com.au to understand why I love it!!!!

I can't wait to bring it to Pinoy-land and start taking happy snaps!!! The downside is probably the cost of the film and processing the photographs.... but it will be well worth it... i hope........

The hotness

sneaky lil' bastard... taking pics while im out like a light....

da da da... dummmmm.... THE HOLGA!!! i love the packaging!!!!!
