V magazine Issue 53

I really like this shoot by Mario Sorrrenti in V's issue 53.
Yes, i know naked models... but the format/ grid looks really awesome in the magazine. It features IMG's creme de la creme "Powerhouse" of top models (as well as other model agencies). Tim, get excited because Miranda Kerr is there...
I really like Daria Werbowy's photograph, thats my favourite

let it rain

It rained, rained and rained yesterday.
Public transport during winter sucks.
I had class last night. I was freaking stressed out for the assignment and quiz…. Low and behold, half the people didn’t do the assignment and we didn’t go through the quiz.
Prior to attending class, I went to Kinokunya to pick up my book that had arrived, can’t wait to read it.
Also, I finally collected my Holga pictures that I have been meaning to print; I got stabbed in the hip pocket as to the amount I had to pay. Never the less, I love lomography (and my Holga camera, and my SuperSampler that have been neglecting) and I’ll keep on paying an exuberant amount of money to keep the passion going.
Meanwhile, I have a project I want to do with my Holga… so I guess I’ll post it up when it’s done. Hopefully you folks like it.
I have decided to create a lomo home, I think it’s about time… so I’ll post that link when I have re sized and loaded all my images. Don’t get too excited because it will have all the same images as my multiply account.

Off topic, I heart Ariel bookstore… I can spend hours and hours in there…. I love it how they close at midnight… if only they opened a store out west.. *wink wink nudge nudge*

Missed Opportunity

I am absolutely kicking myself and I want to cry right now (not really, just venting).
I missed a freaking awesome opportunity!
I am cronically cut to the bone. Seriously.
I called up Tim and had a mad rant, I had tears in my eyes. I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs!!!
"Sorry, I have already finished the interviews... I was going to reply to your email..... but i'll email you about the segment times etc"
Those words are like a sword.... a sword that has pierced my flesh... a sword that has stabbed me in the heart. If only I read that damn email sooner!!!! aarrggghhhhh!!!

Ok, I am going to be positive about this.... I'm going to work harder... plan plan plan... This vile incident will make me stronger... shit happens for a reason....

World Youth Day, Sydney 2008

As my friend Dexter puts it....
" What a week we have just experienced!! How good was it?!! Yeah!! Opening Mass, the sun, the cold, the tinned food, the pilgrims from all over the world, the walking, the queues, the Catechises sessions, Youthfest, the chants, the cold, the travel, the exchanging of gifts, the banging drums, the Papal welcome, the cold, the early morning starts, the cheers, Reconciliation, Stations of the Cross, the Pilgrimage walk from North Sydney to Randwick, the Vigil, the cold, the cold, the WYD Papal Mass, celebrating the Eucharist... it was jammed packed and "awesome"!

It really moved me seeing all those people from all parts of the world come together for our faith. Truly amazing!
The highlights was the Capuchin Youth Festival…. An Italian music pilgrim group performed… a lot of drum beats and dance moves!! Gary Pinto also performed. He is the nicest person ever!! I called him over from afar and he actually came up to us, rare for a celebrity. He was really into his faith which surprised me..
Also we did one of our chants in the middle of George St as hoards of people were going to Barangaroo for the opening mass…. We used one of the barricades as drums…. It was LOUD and people stopped and watched!! Freak'n cool

Seeing close to 500 000 people celebrating mass, people chanting and playing their drums, language barriers but being able to communicate anyway, seeing the Pope, McDonalds being jammed packed with hungry people with VIP vouchers, the streets of Sydney being filled with pilgrims, feeling the love. That will never leave me….

The next WYD is in Madrid, Spain 2011.
Start saving up!

kozyndan

Towards the end of last year I was trying to find artwork to buy for Tim for Christmas. I settled for Angelique Houtkamp’s artwork, a Dutch tattoo artist/painter/shoe designer.

As I was trying to find a substantial piece that Tim would love, I stumbled across kozyndan. Dan and Kozue Kitchens are the fabulous duo that is kozyndan (Santa Monica based illustrators).
I particularly love their artworks Kachido, Bunny Blossom and Uprisings.
Uprisings and Kachido reminds me of the illustrations from my favourite children’s book, Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. However, kozyndan’s images are not as dark.
I can stare at Uprisings and Kachido all day long, I just love it.

Man tights

Shock horror!
Are tights for men going to be the latest craze?
Is American Apparel going to manufacturer leggings or tights for the boys?
I think tights, leggings, stockings or anything of that nature should be reserved for the females.
The only tights boys should be wearing are the tight arse skinny jeans that they all seem to be rocking these days.

The only time tights should cross over to the men’s department is when they use those Nike tights for training/ sports purposes. Because I would much rather see a hot sweaty ripped as anything male training in those feral things in the gym (even though I don’t go to the gym)… opposed to seeing a bloke wearing them in some random department store whilst I’m shopping…. eeekk

The reason why I oppose them so much is because I am jaded and scared…. This memory has scared me…. I was walking to school with a bunch of girlfriends and this feral hippie of a man walked past us… our reaction was “why the heck is this guy wearing tights” but then we realised it was a ratty old pair of opaque stockings he was wearing, so sheer that you could see the family jewels… yes he wasn’t wearing any knickers *cough cough…. Spew* I guess the feral hippie caught onto the trend 10 years ago and it has only come into fruition now….

So if you’re a boy, I only expect you to wear tights if you’re training in the gym or park.... or if your a male ballerina.... or if you intend on being in some Shakespearean play…
