Portraits: Marsh Mora

I had the pleasure of shooting Marsh a couple of months back at the Reservoir in Paddington. I randomly saw (stalked) him at Bondi Beach on the tail end of Summer. I couldn't get over his tattooed face, not something that is common in Sydney (unless you are part of some gang). People's first impression of him is that he is a bikey or someone who'd stab you for your money. In actual fact, he was the opposite- calm, curious and an all round cool cat. He is a tattoo artist in his native country, Germany. He definitely needs to move to LA or London to model because I feel he has a certain look that will appeal to that region. Anyway, here are a couple of shots I took of him.

Photo Diary May 2017 to May 2018

Wow, has it really been that long since I've posted?? Jeeeez Louise! I thought about writing an essay of what has happened in the last year, but a photo diary will suffice. To give you context.. I've been shooting Attic Sydney parties for my pals Andrew and Brendan who run the brand. South America; I visited Cuba, Chile, Peru and Argentina (woohoo!). I also knocked a couple of portraits out too.

Off tangent, I've updated my side panel with a SHOP RAVER RIA button. You can purchase my Cuba and South America travel photo book I published. Click on the button to take a peek ;) I will be adding photography prints to the shop soon. Watch this space for announcements!

Boys: Train Rides

I love how a simple train ride can be an exciting adventure for children. Watching this boy's facial expressions of awe and wonder brought me back to my childhood train rides- I remember my sister and I woud watch all the houses zip past and we would count the backyard playgrounds and pools we saw on our way to a family friend's house. It would be interesting to know what this little boy was thinking as the world travelled past him, and I wonder if he would remember this experience when he is older.  If only as adults we consistently retained our childlike sense of adventure and curiosity.

Girls & Boys: Rey and Ruby

Hi Friends,

So this instalment of the Girls x Boys series is of Rey (my cousin) and Ruby (my cousin-in-law BOOYAH!). This mini shoot was my first foray in engagement photography (pressure was on). I'm not going to lie, it was hard and a great learning curve. As I said before my weakness is 'model'/people direction. I tend just to snap away, but I'm learning to ease in normal conversation with a few jokes to make everyone comfortable and for the images look more natural.

These pictures may have been posted a little too late, as the wedding was last Saturday. It was an awesome day to say the least- it went by too quickly! Ruby looked amazing, think Audrey Hepburn classic chic. They married at Rey and my childhood parish, we had our first Reconciliation, Confirmation and Holy Communion rites at that church, so it was lovely to see Rey and Ruby wed there. The reception was so much fun, a lot of drinks were had and copious amounts of dancing too. The speeches were tear jerkers- my sister and cousins were crying their eyes out. It was lovely to see our two families come together and as Ruby's father aptly said "Our names match Diamante- Cruz, which translates to Diamond Cross".

I really do believe Ruby and Rey belong together. He had a crush on her during high school- he used to stalk her. haha. And I remember on one of our clubbing nights during our university days... Rey mentioned Ruby while we were in the car on the way to the club he said "If she is there it's fate man, it's fate".

Boys: Otis

Photos shot by me

To kick of the Boys series, I shall start with Otis. My mates son, who quite frankly, is the cutest boy in the world. Doe eyed doll face, I couldn't stop saying "omg he is so freaking cute!" It's the chubby cheeks, dolly eyed, One Direction hair that gets me. This kid ate all of his hot chocolate and croissant, which now lives in his little pot belly.
