Wednesday Addams

Photobucket

Photobucket

Beautiful images.

When I was a wee child I wanted to be Christina Ricci's character, Wednesday Addams.
I thought she was the coolest. Dark, sarcastic, no emotion. Actually, it sounds like me a
bit. I loved the the scene in Addams Family Values, where Wednesday plays Pocahontas
in the summer camp play, and basically ruins it. Classic.

Off tangent. The first image reminds me of graffiti artist Pure Evil's 'Joker' piece.
I first saw it in a gallery in Sydney and then at the Pure Evil gallery in London when I was
living there. It's the most amazing piece, 6 feet by 4 feet. when your up close it looks like
rainbow paint dribble and you can't really tell what it is. The further you stand back the
clearer the image is. Amazing. One day I'll buy that piece. Unless of course Pure Evil sends
it to me as a gift. *Wink wink, nudge nudge*

Sydney Eye

Images shot by me.

Crappy Blackberry shots from a fashion show I attended at the Sydney Tower Eye last year in December. I forgot to post these images. Better late than never....

Off tangent..... 2012 has been awesome. I know it's been only 2 weeks, but if this is an indication of how the year will be, I'm excited to see what unfolds later on...

Banana Ink

Photobucket

My best mate just bought an SLR. So yesterday we got a bit snap happy. We drove up to the
observatory to take some photos and to road test her new toy.

Major memory lane because the observatory is located at my old university. Lovely nostalgic
feelings flooded over me when we were driving around the campus.

I can be at ease with Anna, all laughs, no worries and we can talk for hours and it'll feel like
10 minutes.... Love her.

All images are shot by Anna. Make sure you stop by her blog (Bananaink ) to check out more
of her pictures, watch her progress because she is going to kill it. Believe you me!

illa- Manila

Photobucket

This basically sums up my thoughts on Manila. I have been thinking about
that place for a while, I'm pretty much homesick.

I found the above quote through WYD's Carlos Celdran video, in turn I found WYD
via The Dollhouse. My go to guide for inspiration.

So I surfed through WYD's site and stumbled on their day-in-the-life episodes. Which I
recommend everyone to watch. If your lacking inspiration, definitely have a look.

What I love about The Dollhouse and WYD is their goal to motivate and inspire it's viewers.

Make sure you hit them up. Click here for The Dollhouse and here for WYD.

Last Day of 2010

Choir

Books

Christmas is over, was it me or did it just fly by?

Last day of magic.
Wow, not long now till 2011.

I must say 2010 was an amazing year, with a touch of sadness. Being that my world tour came
to an end in September. I was so sad and was in denial that I was leaving London. I had an
amazing 1.5 years there. The best years of my life. When people asked what I did over their,
my answer is I lived and experienced the world, met the most amazing people and was thrown
out of my comfort zone.

It was a little strange coming back to Sydney, the air, the light, the smell was different. I felt
like a tourist in my home town. It's like I had a fresh pair of eyes and saw everything anew.
It's a new chapter now. One that I'm excited to live. I get to hang with my best mate, Anna,
pretty much everyday. And I get to see my family, who I love.

2011 will be an exciting ride, because I'm still trying to adjust to Sydney life. New projects are
on the horizon, one that I'm really excited about. Travelling is on the cards again, so I can't
wait to fly out, but unfortunately it be for a while, either way I'm still excited.

Meanwhile, how awesome is this clip. I saw it on Coco Rocha's blog. Rebecca Conran is out
of this world with her creative midas touch. Amazing. I want her to fix my room.

Annie Leibovitz 1990-2005 at the MCA

Photobucket

Photobucket

It was a lovely sunny day in Sydney yesterday. Tim and I went to the Annie L
exhibition at the MCA.

I was sort of feeling 'blah' about photography before I went to the show, yet I was
excited to see her work. Let's just say that it exceeded my expectations. You know
how sometimes when you go to a photography exhibition and your somewhat partial
to the images that you see? Well not this one.

I was hit in the face with the most amazing photographs ever created. Most pictures
were portraiture, which I love. I think what appealed to me most was that she captures
a person's rawness and humanity. My favourite photo is a 1994 pic of Johnny D and Kate M.
All this time it was her who shot that image. So when I walked into the first room of the
exhibit and saw it on the wall I had butterflies. I really liked the images she took of Susan
Sontag and Chris Rock, beautiful black and whites.

It restored my faith and passion in photography.

Head to the MCA in Sydney, you have time, it's on till the 27th of March 2011.

Hair: Fendi Fall 2010

I've been trying to figure out how to do this hair style. I love the retro volume feel about
it. I think of Katharine Hepburn for some reason. I stood in front of the mirror for
about 3 hours trying to work it out. I just should have gone to youtube, would've made
my life easier. Thank goodness for youtube hair tutorials.

from thoughts to bananaink

Bananaink, my best friend's blog. I love the way she writes, because when I read it, it's like she
is in the same room with me talking. I believe she is an awesome writer. So you should check it
out.

It's quite funny because we were in denial of the whole 'best friend' status thingy. We always
referred to each other as close friends. It took us 11 years of friendship and me moving half way
across the world for 1 year and a half, to admit we were best mates.... She is my soul mate and
we just get each other, we are always on the same wave length. I love her. We talk about
anything and everything.

I remember we were having a conversation in my backyard a few months ago, and we saw this
flash of light shoot down from the sky, the colours were amazing; green, red, blue. We weren't
sure if it was a comet, UFO or a satellite dish falling. It was amazing, we also made a wish.

She's my shooting star.

The last road trip I went on was last year, when I was living abroad.
London to Munich for Oktoberfest. It was off the hook. Out of work,
almost broke, but I had the time of my life. We got robbed in Belgium
and extorted in Prague. Stayed at one of the best camp sites i've ever been
to, in Switzerland; snow capped mountains, fresh air, awesome pistachio
chocolate.

I want to go on a road trip and camp somewhere near a beach. It's fitting too
because it's summer in the land down under. Ironically it's been raining for
the last week. But hopefully we'll have a crazy hot summer.

Paper or plastic?

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

I read the other day that print is dead and technology will take over the print
world. I believe this won't happen, I hope not anyway. Remember how I went on
that crazy rant about how I love books? Well, it's somewhat going to be one of those
posts again.

ebooks what do you think of them? I don't warm to them very much.
The thought of reading a novel on ebooks, ipads and the like is disconcerting to me.
I guess there are a lot of benefits in using them and maybe I should really embrace
the new(ish) technology.

But... I'm too in love with reading paperbacks and hardbacks. I'm too in love with
the smell of new and old books, the feel of it between your fingers, the sound of pages flicking,
underlining with a pen words and sentences that grabs me, revisiting old books from
my book shelf, snuggling up on my couch or bed with a good book. Man, I can't wait for
my future library.

Sorry ebook technology, I'm choosing paper this time round.
