Take me to the tropics...

I really like Phi's resort 09' collection... there is a bit of bad a*rse toughness going on... the way I like it...yet there is also a feminine quality to it...
Meanwhile.... I think my photoshop skills are sort of improving. haha..

Steven Chee/ Rae Morris

I recently bought a makeup book by Rae Morris. The only reason I bought it was because one of my favourite photographers, Steven Chee, shot all the photographs. He is hella cool and he always seems to capture the beauty of women so well.

I really love the photographs of models Michelle Leslie and Catherine McNeil... they look awesome.. and there are really good makeup tips and tricks... I'm not a big makeup person; mascara, lip gloss and sometimes black eyeliner normally does it for me... but after flicking through, I may try on a few of the 'looks'.

Here are a couple of images from his website http://www.stevenchee.com/

Obsession

Who has seen the movie ‘Fear’? Starring Mark Whalberg and Reese Witherspoon. You know the “boyfriend of your dreams 6 pack and all… turns psycho obsessed boyfriend from hell”.
I really enjoyed that movie; I remember the first time I watched it I think I was about 14 or 15 years old. My sister and I would daydream about Mark and those abs of steel (hot!) and we use to wonder what it would be like if we were to have future psycho boyfriends from hell (thank goodness it never happened). Every time I hear the song ‘Wild Horses’ by the Rolling Stones I think of that movie…. And I never look at roller coasters that same way again..haha.

Obsession, not only a fragrance by Calvin Klein, but also the domination of one's thoughts or feelings by a persistent idea, image, desire, etc as dictionary.com plainly states it.
I’m pretty sure at one point in your life you have experienced a small (or massive) obsession. Maybe it was during your teenage years (high school crush) your favourite food (chocolate) or something really random.
Someone I know is experiencing a form of obsession, he isn’t the one doing the obsessing, but he is the desire, the image, the persistent idea in that obsessed persons mind.
At first he found it sweet…cute even… that someone was throwing flattery towards his way… but I think that email sealed the deal for the tag of ‘OMG you f*cking psycho b*tch’.
It’s funny how ones desires can consume them, it’s intriguing how that particular thought or idea can in some ways dominate how they act or feel.
I guess in the movie ‘Fear’ love was the motivating factor for his obsession.
For anyone, I assume the instigator could range from anything from love, envy, jealousy even hate…

As Calvin Klein’s Obsession fragrance puts it ‘Between love and madness lies obsession”

Glynis Selina Arban

*This is pretty much a continuation of the Karen post below.

Glynis Selina Arban is the photographer that shot the 'Sparkle' fashion editiorial for the Karen #6 magazine.

She has the most amazing pictures... its quite versatile, yet she has unique style to her photography. The most amazing thing about her is that she is a self taught photographer... very very talented indeed.

If you love her pictures as much as I do check out her site:

Karen magazine

I bought three magazines yesterday, Karen is my favourite out of the three, it's a New Zealand glossy. Mainly because of the fashion editorials. My favourite is the one below, 'Sparkle' (its the reason why I bought the mag).
I am so inspired, that I want to recreate it with my Holga (lomo styles). I feel in love with the photography, it seems that the only light source is the sparkle.....

PDA

Public displays of affection can always rub people the wrong way (no pun intended).
Tim and I were briefly talking on the phone about the dreaded PDA. He called me up while he was on the train and he told me how a twenty something year old couple were sucking face; saliva trail and all *high school screech GGEET A RROO00M*
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind a peck on the lips or cheek, or even a nice big bear hug. But when your out on the side walk/ bus stop/ street/ restaurant/ club/ alley way etc in full view for all people to see, and your eating each others faces off (and/ or dry humping); it’s just wrong! I don’t want to see that cr*p, and I bet the next Tom, Dick and Harry doesn’t want to see it either (unless you’re a voyeuristic pervert).
So to the entire lovely dovey ‘I can’t keep my hands off you’ couples when your in public please keep it to a minimum (or don’t do it at all).

Do I know you?

Do I know you..... No.
Do you know me....No.
Do I give a sh*t about you..... No.
Your retarded comments and the death stares is not impressing anyone..
Your only making yourself look like a desperate idiot.
So just chill out and relax...

Bonde Do Role- the aftermath

This is probably one of the most craziest concerts I have attended.
These kids from Brazil know how to party (seriously)
They have so much energy, they pumped everyone up and they surely know how to entertain.
There was a lot of air gyrating, drinking a lot of Corona (or alcohol in general) whilst singing, spiting water or alcohol at the crowd, throwing water or alcohol at the crowd, crowd interaction/ semi crowd surfing (the security guard was tight arse, they didn't really let them crowd surf), using a giant blow up penguin with a penis drawn on it as a ball to throw around, singing whilst rolling around on the floor and vomiting; yep, you read correctly, one of the boys vomited on stage.... I think all that jumping, singing and drinking alcohol made him spew.... sort of like when hyperactive 5 year olds run around like headless chooks after eating dinner then getting sick and up chucking...
I loved their Brazilian accents when they spoke English... a lot of "wweeh laahhve Aoustralia".. "wwiiickk-hed" and "aaaooww-summm"..... but nothing beats "ddiiss soonggg is abbooutt f*cking coconuts.... i'mmm soooh aarouuss--sed"

If they have another concert I am going to definitely watch them again!

Modelizer

I love this girl....I love the emotions she evokes in her photographs; jaded and dreamy.... Alice Burdeu; the red head that took the title of Australia's Next Top Model (third season). The 5'11' or 180cm model is making a big mark in the fashion scene, walking for Proenza Schouler, Marc Jacobs and Marchesca (to name a few) during New York Fashion Week Fall 2008.
She is currently on the cover for Vogue Australia's July 08 cover... the face of Australian cosmetic brand Napoleon.... there is nothing stopping this girl... so watch this face because she is going to be BIG! Well that my prediction anyway ;)

Bonde Do Role

Can't wait for tonight's Bonde Do Role concert!
I was suppose to see them play during Sydney Festival at the start of the year, but they pulled out because they broke up.
But they are back with a vengeance, so hopefully they kick some serious arse!

"match in the gas tank... boom..boom"

Note to self:

Never get fuel in the morning on Victoria Road, whilst driving to work. Because you'll never get out of the gas station due to heavy traffic (but thank you to the truck driver who high beamed me and let me pass through).

Nike womens dunk high liberty fabric

My heart skipped a beat when I saw these in the shoe store.... the only thing is they are suede. and the way the weather is holding up in Sydney means that they will get trashed and a half. Looks like the trusty scotch guard will come into full use! Darn it..... I was only suppose to visit my friend to say YO because I hadnt seen him in a long time.... I ended up walking out with a new pair of Nikes.... alas..... i still live love them to bits....

Modelizer

The first time I saw Erin Wasson was on the cover of The Face magazine, March 2001 # 50 to be exact (I still have it stashed away on my shelf). On the cover she is rocking a vintage swimsuit by Bodymap and a flight jacket by Hugo Boss. Hand on hips, right shoulder 'pop, lock and dropin'... Cleopatra kohl rimmed eyes with a kick; topped off with a ice queen dont-fuck-with-me stare... androgynous undercut hairstyle; side part and flipped to the right (Victoria Beckhams doo' fails by comparison).
The pout (trademark) the mole (trademark)... as Tyra Banks would say "she looks FIERCE" indeed... All I have to say about that cover is "girls who are boys, who like boys to be girls, who do boys like they're girls, who do girls like they're girls"
She rips shit up with The Face cover!!!! love her!

(Photographs by Dan Martensen)

That is when my girl crush started ...2001.. now fast forward to 2008 and Miss Wasson is still ripping shit up! Stylist for Alexander Wangs Spring 2008 Ready To Wear Collection, collaborating with RVCA (Erin Wasson for RVCA) and now her own jewellery LOWLUV. Whats not to love about this self confessed skater girl (she has a half pipe in her backyard) .... as she puts it "I'm a tomboy in high heels"...
