Random Ramblings

I spent Friday night with these two lovely girls (and my sister). Good fun :)
I think I broke my sister's camera, while doing my assignment (I AM REALLY SORRY!) so I will be going to the camera repair shop this weekend to get it fixed.

I went in obsessive compulsive overdrive last night and cleaned and rearranged my room.. I was lifting furniture here and there, throwing out some junk and hiding some junk under my bed :/
I finished at 1:00am... can you say freak?
I blame it on The Selby for inspiring me...

Collaboration: Marilyn and Glynis

A while back I did a post about photographer Glynis Selina Arban and the photographs she took for New Zealand magazine Karen.
While I was web broswing I stumbled across models.com and their article about Marilyn’s SS09 collection. I was glad to hear that Glynis photographed the models. Below are a few pictures… click here to see the rest of the amazing images.
I absolutely love this self taught photographer….her images remind me of Holga pictures but more crisper and cleaner, yet it still yields the same whimsical double exposed effect of the Holga. I love it!

Burda and Frankie

The Frankie Magazine website (as well as the magazine itself) is choc full of info that always seems to tickle my fancy. They had a post on Burda We love hacking patterns .
Oh Burda, how you bring back memories of year 7 and 8 sewing class in high school; cutting out patterns… sewing not so very straight hems… ah bless
Frankie had a link to Burda Style Open Source Sewing . The site is awesome…. If you’re a sewing aficionado (like yours truly) you should really consider having a look at this website. It has everything from how tos’, sewpedia, patterns and other peoples creations. You could be like Mary from Tampere, Finland and sew up a storm of oh so fashionable garments.
I will definitely stalk this website in the near future…

Yen Magazine

I received this in the mail yesterday. yay.
They had such a lovely tribute article on Polaroid cameras... bless.
I'm thinking of stock piling on film...

Wolfmother (part 2)

Tim received this email, (i'm off to cry now, they will never be the same)

Hi Tim,

Grammy Award winning rock band Wolfmother has announced the resignation of bass/keyboard player Chris Ross and drummer Myles Heskett effective immediately.

Singer/guitarist Andrew Stockdale now plans to find other musicians over coming months and to then begin making a new Wolfmother album.

Wolfmother toured the world virtually non-stop through 2006 and early 2007 on the back of their acclaimed self titled debut album. Longstanding frictions within the group then lead them to take an extended break during the second half of 2007 to consider their future.

In early 2008 they regrouped and worked on new material. Initially encouraged by those sessions, they committed to a handful of live shows to 'road test' the new songs and to try to find a way forward.

Those dates concluded with a headlining slot last Sunday at the Splendour In The Grass Festival in Australia's Byron Bay where rumours circulated about possible lineup changes.

Following that show Chris Ross decided to announce that he was leaving the band due to irreconcilable personal and musical differences. Myles Heskett has also decided to leave the band rather than continuing as part of a changed lineup. The pair has been working together on songs for some time and they plan to focus their energies on that new project in the future.

Wolfmother's self titled debut album is one of the most successful Australian rock releases this century. It has sold over 1.3 million copies and received multiple ARIA Awards and a Grammy – making them the first Aussie band to receive such an award in 25 years. Other highlights for the group have included appearances at just about every major music festival in the world, sharing stages with Pearl Jam, The Who and The Strokes, and a special performance inducting the legendary Led Zeppelin into the UK's Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame.

Andrew Stockdale, Myles Heskett and Chris Ross will make no public statements at this time except to say that they are each really looking forward to making their new music over the years ahead.

In the meantime they simply ask all Wolfmother fans to please understand that in spite of their best efforts over a long period of time, they just could not find a harmonious way to work together and that has lead to the decisions announced today.

The Weekend that was…

I actually had quite a good weekend.
I went to the new China Heights Gallery to see their Vice magazine photography exhibition.
I went to Monster Children Gallery for the Courtney Brims exhibition. My goodness it was wonderful! I purchased the ‘Snow’ illustration. I love it…. I am contemplating on possibly buying something else… It took me forever to decide which one to buy… everything was just awesome.
I’ll post some pictures up from each exhibit.
Tim and I also went to the American Apparel store on Oxford Street. We have been waiting patiently for that place to open. There were so many people in there, buying up a storm.
The $2 Polaroid camera I bought from Trash and Treasure works… I’m so excited! The flash bulb works also… very happy about that. But I am not happy about the film being so to be obsolete.
So very very soon I’ll be posting more lomo pictures from my SuperSampler, Holga and some polaroid pictures…

The law of attraction

Jack Canfield says "The law of attraction states that you will attract into your life--whether wanted or unwanted--whatever you give your energy, focus, and attention to".

A few weeks back I was thinking about my friend because I walked past the place he use to work at, plus I havent seen him in a long time. A couple of days ago I received a facebook friend request from him. Then today I received an email from my sister with the below flyer for his gig.
It's funny how the universe works... if you want to see 'the law of attraction' in action come down to his gig (15 August from 7:00-12:00, at East Village)
