I'm back in Sydney

My stint in PI is over. reality is now kicking in.
I am quite tired, I had a restless flight back home, I was floating in and out of sleep.

GK was one big experience. I absolutely loved it! I was able to experience a different kind of Philippines.
I travelled with 10 amazing people to Mindanao, and met more awesome individuals.... they made the GK experience even more memorable....

Our entrance to Davao was pretty interesting. Our plane almost crashed. As we were landing we quickly ascended, sharply. The pilot anounced that we were coming in too fast, so he needed to reland the plane. It turns out that there was actually another plane on the runway..... we ascended because we were about to hit it..... yikes!
We had quite a few 'final destination' moments..... Leonard was mauled by red ants, he was on crutches for 2 weeks (yet he still built! props to Leonard). The ceiling fan fell between 2 of the GK volunteers in a house they were staying at....

Anyhow.....

Unfortunately we did not get to build any houses, however, they put us into good use..... we built two septic tanks. It was hard work. blood sweat and tears I tell you!
I find the GK beneficiaries really inspiring. You could see how GK has changed them.. They were very hopeful for the future of their families especially for their children.
My host family were so loving and welcoming. I felt like I was in my own home.
Words can't express what I had experienced during GK. All I can say is just go and volunteer with this amazing organization, then you'll know what I am trying to explain.

I will post pics later.....
